ESEA Skincare, an industry leader in skincare, products, equipment, studio build outs, education, learning and training, was founded in 1995 as a division Microderm Systems.

Joe Tafoya, co founder of ESEA Skincare, is a pioneer in the evolution of microdermabrasion technology when first brought over from Europe in 1995. It was then that he developed and manufactured the United States’ third microdermabrasion system of which he has the patent for.

Back in the beginning, when all that existed were Miroderm Systems, Power Peel, Dermagenesis and Dermaglow, the technology of equipment being used for treatments in the esthetic field was in its infancy stages.  So, the group embarked on educating the country on what amazing results could come from using microdermabrasion as a treatment in lieu of just facials and peels. And did it ever take the country by storm.

So, in 1997 and 1998 when day spas, salons, derms and plastics were starting to purchase these systems and understanding their unique abilities to correct the appearance of damaged skin, microdermabrasion equipment was in great demand. For the next four years, we could not manufacture the equipment fast enough! It was a wild ride of trade shows, seminars and an eduation process never seen in the industry. We all learned from trial and error but eventually maximized our potential and, at the height of the action, there were 40 companies manufacturing these systems.

Today there are only a dozen or so still around from those early day. Of the original 4 there is only Microderm Systems and Dermaglow still distributing and servicing products and equipment.

Time continued and, in 2001, Microderm Systems started to focus on new technology such as ultrasonic skin scrubbers and, recently in the last few years, microcurrent, which is the newest and hottest modality in the industry.  During our time, Microderm Systems always maintained the education factor in all that we produced. We had several skincare studios built and started educating the public on different types of treatments using machines  - this is where the “First treatment is always FREE” was initiated and continues to this day.

We feel that it is important to offer free treatments so that the public can become aware of what an advanced aggressive treatment using these different modalities feels like and what results are seen.

In 2005, with the help of Taylor Davis, Microderm Systems entered the skincare products business and developed a unique cosmeceutical skincare line that is geared for results only with high percentages of the actives to increase result productivity now branded under the ESEA label.

The products are sold through the ESEA Skincare Studios, on our website at www.eseaskincare.com, to all skincare professionals who use our equipment, and on our new internet skincare magazine, www.microderm.com. 

It was in 2006 that East Sac Endermologie and Aesthetics, LLC (ESEA Skincare) was co- founded by Lori Moody and Joe Tafoya, and brought everything under one shell, encompassing skincare studios, learning and education centers, skincare products and equipment, service centers and the creation of Microderm.com, the industry’s first internet news magazine.

We are a one stop shop for everything skincare and pride ourselves on education and advising our clients on the newest technology in the industry, products, and procedures.

We will continue to grow and educate across the country with plans on the way for the development of a new skincare line for men and future studios in Santa Barbara and New York.
